Vairochana ( Wiley : rnam par snang mdzad lo tsa ba ) (8th c.) - Tibetan Buddhist monk, translation scholar. He was one of the first teachers of the Dzogchen tradition in Tibet . Disciple of Sri Simha .

Biography
Vairochana came from the Pagor clan ( Wiley : spa gor ). At the age of 8, King Trisong Detsen sent him to Samye Monastery to learn the language. Vairochana was one of the first seven monks consecrated to Shantarakshita . [1] At the age of 15, he was sent to India to receive transmission of the Dzogchen teachings.
For 42 years, he was trained by Sri Simha and other teachers, having received the transmission of the teachings of Semde and Longde [2] . According to the Nyingma tradition , Vairochana received the transmission of Maha Yoga from Buddhaguhya , as well as Vimalamitra , [3] .
Returning to Tibet, Vairochana taught King Trisong Decen and translated Indian Sanskrit texts on Buddhism into Tibetan .
At the insistence of Vairochana, King Trisong Decen invited Vimalamitra to Tibet to teach and translate Dzogchen texts.
The biography of Vairochana [4] is a classic work of Tibetan literature (namtar) .
