Buqata or Boqata ( Heb. בוקעאתא , Arabic. بقعاثا ) is the local council in the northern district of Israel . Its area is 19,628 dunums . One of the four Druze villages seized by Israel from Syria during the Six Day War. Its residents can get Israeli passports according to the Golan law, but most keep the Syrian. The village was founded in 1886 by families from Majdal Shams and was destroyed twice - in 1888 (local conflict) and in 1925, during the Great Druze Uprising . The village is located between the mountains of Warda and Hermonite .
