Peter Chrysologist (c. 380 , Imola , Bologna , Italy - July 31, 450 , ibid.) - Christian theologian , church teacher [1] [2] . He is included in the list of saints of the Orthodox and Catholic Church ; memory is celebrated on July 30.

Only a few facts are known about the life of Peter Chrysologist. He adopted Christianity in adulthood, in 433 he was appointed bishop in Ravenna , then became metropolitan . His sermons are addressed to the citizens of a prosperous trading city. Peter is considered the confidant of Pope Leo I. He was buried in the Imola Cathedral.
Already from the 9th century, Peter received the nickname Chrysologus (Chrysologist, “The Goldilder”) similar to the theologian John Chrysostom . In 1729, Pope Benedict XIII was named the teacher of the church.
