Reed Irwin (September 29, 1922 - November 16, 2004) is an economist who founded the media credibility observational organization and has been its leader for 35 years.

His famous comments focused on the Civil War in El Salvador , the Gulf War , and the Clinton administration.
During the Gulf War in 1991, he accused CNN and reporter Peter Arnett of covering "a version of the truth of Saddam Hussein. His account in no way helps America win this war. ” [one]
In 1994, Irwin defended the Washington Times , founded by Moon Union leader Moon Song Myung , saying, "The Washington Times is one of the few newspapers in the country that provides at least some balance." [2]
