Biography
Antonio Baldisser was born on May 27, 1838 in the city of Padua . At the end of the military academy in Vienna Neustadt in 1857 he was promoted to officer in the Austrian army [1] .
In 1866 he switched to Italian service. Having distinguished himself in the battle near Koenigretz, in 1866 he entered the service in the corps of Italian bersaliers, where he quickly reached the rank of colonel.
On the African expedition of 1887–88. distinguished himself and was appointed successor to the chief of the expeditionary force, General S. Marzano. Baldisser greatly expanded the boundaries of the Italian colony.
In 1889 he was appointed head of the division. In 1896, Baldisser was again sent to Africa to save the Eritrean colony after the defeat near Adua. Baldisserov reorganized the demoralized troops, liberated the Adigrat fort and secured the extradition of some Italians captured under Adua.
After returning from Eritrea, he was appointed commander of the VIII Corps. Since 1900 - senator .
Antonio Baldisser died on January 8, 1917 in Florence .
