Biography
From birth, Udo was named Pribygnev. His father, Avenger, after the insult inflicted by the Slavs by Margrave Theodoric, left Christianity. Udo ruled as Bodrich after Mstivoy, together with the princes Anadrag and Wrath [2] . Hilferding A.F. writes that Udo was in Hamburg , which was revived after 1018.
Helmold from Bosau called Udo a “bad Christian,” and Hilferding indicated that he was the only Christian among the Ruling princes. Some authors assume that he received the name Udo at baptism; some see this as a connection with the Lotar Udo I von Stade .
Udo in 1028 was killed by a Sax defector. His son Gottschalk returned to his homeland, and began to take revenge on the Saxons for the death of his father.
