Geographical position
Bezange la Ptit is located 55 km southeast of Metz . Neighboring communes: Leze in the north, Le in the east, Moncourt in the southeast, Quancourt in the south, Reshicur-la-Petit in the southwest, Juvrecourt and Ksanre in the northwest.
History
- The settlement has been known since 699 under the Germanic name Bisanga .
- The village belonged to the bishopric of Metz and was part of the Senorat de Vic.
- On December 14, 1593, part of the rights to Bezange-la-Petit passed to the Duchy of Lorraine.
- In 1790, Bezange-la-Petit entered the canton of Bourdonne of the former Department of Merth.
- In 1871, under the Frankfurt Treaty , Bezange-la-Petit became part of the German Empire and received the Germanized name Kleinbessingen . In 1918, after the defeat of Germany in World War I, it again became part of France in the Moselle department.
- The commune was severely damaged during the Second World War of 1939-1945.
