Mate Yehuda

The Mate Yehuda Regional Council ( Hebrew מועצה אזורית מטה יהודה ) is the only regional council in the Jerusalem District of Israel, one of the largest in the country by territory and the largest in the number of settlements - there are 57 in 2010. Its territory stretches from Jerusalem in the east to the coastal lowlands in the west, in the middle is highway number 1.

Content

History

It was created in 1964 by combining four smaller regional councils - Even ha-Ezer , Guizot , Harey Yehuda , ha-Ela . The composition of the Jewish population of the council is very diverse, efforts are being made to maintain the customs and folklore of each community.

Population

According to statistics from the Central Statistical Bureau of Israel, the population of the regional council for 2018 is 56,600 people [1] .

Natural population growth is 3.2%.

56.6% of students receive a certificate of maturity .

The average salary for 2007 is 7,562 shekels .
