History
To fulfill the technical task of the State Committee for Design and Design Bureau “Luch” for the development of an unmanned aerial vehicle of container launch, a working group was created in NTUU KPI under the leadership of Dr. tech. n V. Sukhova, which carried out both theoretical and experimental studies on the project [1] .
For the first time, the UAV was presented at the international exhibition of weapons and military equipment IDEX-2011 . [2]
In May 2013, the GP State Design Bureau “Luch” announced that the development program was successfully completed [3]
In the future, the UAV was sent to flight tests.
Description
The Sokol-2 is launched as a rocket from a standard ATGM transport and launch container with a length of 1390 mm and a diameter of 160 mm [4] . The container with the UAV is placed on the site of the launch container of the ATGM mounted on armored vehicles. [five]
Navigation is carried out automatically using GPS , and if necessary, the Falcon-2 can be controlled manually by the operator. Laser designator is not installed, GPS is used for targeting. The operator monitors the terrain from the carrier armored vehicles through a television camera installed in the bow of the UAV and gives the command to use ATGM when detecting targets.
