Denholm ( German: Dänholm , literally - “ Danish island ”) is an island in the Strahlazund Strait , located between Rügen and Stralsund .

Denholm is connected to Rügen and Stralsund by the old Rügen bridge . The new Strelazundquerung bridge from Stralsund to Rügen, although it crosses Denholm, does not provide access to it.
Historically, the island is known for the clashes of 1807 between the French and Swedish troops. Another famous event is the battle of May 8, 1429 .
Today, the island has a naval museum on the history of the German navy and a branch of the Stralsund Oceanographic Museum .
