Biography
Andrei Ivanovich Khaustov was born on July 13, 1930 in the village of Novo-Troitskoe (now Kirov Region ). Father Ivan Vasilievich Khaustov was a geologist, mother Lidia Ivanovna taught mathematics at school. The family had two more sons: the eldest, in the future, the famous Leningrad poet Leonid Khaustov, and the middle - Yaroslav, who later became a naval doctor [2] .
A. Khaustov’s childhood passed in Leningrad , in a house on Rubinstein Street . In 1944-1951 he studied at the Secondary Art School at the Academy of Arts with V.F. Podkovyrin and A.A. Mylnikov, in 1952-1958 at the Art School V.I. Mukhina at V.I. Ingal , L.A. Mass, V.L. Rybalko [3] . Thesis is a monument to the composer A. S. Dargomyzhsky . Cast in bronze, a monument on the grave of A. S. Dargomyzhsky was erected in 1961 in the Necropolis of artists in the territory of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra [3] .
He taught at the Children's Art School of the Dzerzhinsky District of Leningrad [2] .
He committed suicide on July 13, 1978, on the day when he was 48 years old [K 1] . He was buried at Komarovsky cemetery (the author of the tombstone is sculptor K. M. Simun [2] ) [3] [4] .
Creativity
The magazine "Art" wrote about A. Khaustov’s thesis in 1958: "Before us is a sculpture of one of the best graduates of 1958 - a graduate of the school named after V. I. Mukhina A. Haustov. She depicts a peasant boy playing the flute. This is a statue for the tombstone of the composer Dargomyzhsky in the Leningrad necropolis. The sculpture is small in size, it does not have a special “monumentality”, but it attracts with the depth of feelings, lyricism, musical smoothness of forms. By the inspired figure of a shepherd boy playing the pipes, by his pose and by his face you believe that he has all gone into the world of sounds, he appears before us as an embodiment of Russian folk song, Russian music ” [5] .
In addition to sculpture, he was engaged in painting and drawing. The author of the sculptural monument to S. Yesenin , sculptural portraits of N. Krupskaya , football players of the Leningrad “Zenith” L. Burchalkin and V. Panchikhin and others [2] [3] .
In 1958 he was admitted to the Leningrad Union of Artists .
He participated in exhibitions since 1958. Solo exhibitions of works by A. Haustov took place in 1987 (Leningrad, LOSH ), 1996 (St. Petersburg, Russian Museum ) and 2004 (St. Petersburg, Museum-apartment of A. S. Pushkin ) [2] .
The works of A. I. Haustov are in the Russian Museum [6] , in museums and private collections in Russia and abroad.
