Etymology
The word Badik has long been known in Ryazan dialects. In 1820 , M. N. Makarov noted: “Badik, badichek. Stick, stick, cane, cane. " A legend is widespread among local residents, which connects the name of the village with the fact that at the site of its current location, the first settlers had driven a stick, or badik.
Z. P. Nikulina suggested that this toponym reflects the nature of local vegetation, that is, light forest. However, the word badik does not occur in the meaning of "shallow forest" or "place covered with shallow forest." Therefore, in the future, she explains the name Baidiki as a derivative of the Baidik surname or Baidik nickname, which is based on the word Baidik in the meaning "stick, club." In her opinion, the Baidikovo uniform could be replaced by the Baidikov in the same way as it was in cases like Novikovo - Noviki, Chuvikovo - Chuviki. The connection of the anthroponym with the dialectic kayak “mischievous, Buyan” is also possible.
History
In the scribal books of the Okologorodny camp 1628/1629 it is noted among the estates of the Ryazan archbishop as the settlement of Baidikovsky.
According to Ivan Dobrolyubov , it was mentioned in 1637 in a letter from Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich under the name ss. Baydakovskoe.
The modern name Baidiki is presented in an extract from boundary books of 1680 at the metropolitan villages.
In 1859, the village was part of the Mikhailovsky district [2] .
