Big Alagol ( azerb. Böyük Alagöl ) / Mets-Al ( armen . Մեծ Ալլիճ ) is a freshwater lake in the mountains of the Lesser Caucasus , on the Karabakh volcanic plateau [4] .

According to the administrative-territorial division of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the lake is located in the west of the Kelbajar region of Azerbaijan , according to the administrative-territorial division of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic - in the extreme west of the Shaumyan district of NKR , at an altitude of 2800 meters above sea level near the border with Armenia .
Bolshoi Alagol is the largest lake in Karabakh with glacial origin. The area is about 5 km², the depth is 8 m [4] .
