The Hong Kong Monetary Authority ( Eng. Hong Kong Monetary Authority , China 金融 管理局 ) is a public institution of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region that performs certain functions of the central bank (more precisely, the currency board ).

Functions
Hong Kong Monetary Authority was established on April 1, 1993.
Management Functions:
- maintaining currency stability within the exchange rate system;
- promoting stability and integrity of the financial system, including the banking system;
- assistance in maintaining the status of Hong Kong as an international financial center, including support and development of the financial infrastructure of Hong Kong;
- currency fund management.
Management does not have the right to issue Hong Kong dollars, but controls the issuance of banknotes in dollars, carried out by three banks: The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited , Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited and Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited . Hong Kong dollar coins and $ 10 banknotes are issued by the Government of Hong Kong.
