Biography

In 1931 he graduated from LHU , where his teachers were L. S. Leontyev and V. I. Ponomarev . As a student, he made his debut on the stage of the S.L. In 1931 - 1962 he was a soloist at the S.A. Kirov LATOB . At the same time, in 1934 - 1946 he danced the leading parties in the LMATOB named after M.P. Mussorgsky .

Along with V. M. Chabukiani and A. N. Ermolaev , Zubkovsky was one of the outstanding dancers of his time, a “pioneer of dance” - as defined by Yuri Grigorovich:

It can be said without exaggeration that the influence of Zubkovsky’s personality and work on the generation of artists who came to the Leningrad ballet in the mid 1940s and early 1950s was exceptional. His dance-flight, dance-character excited the thought and imagination. Zubkovsky rose above the everydayness of the epigones of the “drama ballet”, over the frozen canons of classical dance, revealing its inexhaustible figurative power .

- Yuri Grigorovich [2]

In 1962 - 1965 he taught a male class at the Leningrad Opera and Ballet Theater named after S. M. Kirov , and from 1965 until the end of his life he taught classical dance at the Leningrad Choreographic School . Among his students: Boris Blankov , Dmitry Bryantsev , Vadim Gulyaev , Oleg Ignatiev , Vasily Ostrovsky , Tiit Harm and others.

He died in Leningrad on June 3, 1971 and was buried at the Bolsheokhtinsky cemetery .
