Biography
Mother Caroline is Italian, father is Bulgarian, who fled from Bulgaria after World War II. Since his father could not find work in Italy, his parents migrated to the United States in the late 1950s, where Caroline was born. After graduating from the French Lyceum in Washington , she continued her studies at the University of Pisa ( Italy ), where she studied literature, philology, language, and art history. Carolyn's thesis was on the connections between American painting and 1950s poetry, exemplified by Frank O'Hara and abstract expressionism .
From 2002 to 2008, she worked as the chief curator of the Museum of Modern Art “Castello di Rivoli - Museo d'Arte Contemporanea” ( Italy ), from 2008 to 2009 was the director of this museum.
Carolyn Hristov-Bakardzhiev in Russia
- In October 2011, at the invitation of the Russian Victoria - The Art of Being Modern Foundation, Carolyn Hristov-Bakardzhie held a meeting in Moscow with young Russian artists [2] [3] . The meeting took place for 2 days in the Moscow workshop of Ilya Kabakov [2] .
