Igor Alexandrovich Shilov ( April 9, 1921 , Podolsk - February 13, 2001 , Moscow ) - Soviet and Russian environmental scientist and biologist, full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 1994 ( corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences since 1984). One of the largest in Russia population ecology theorists, one of the founders of ecological physiology, the concept of "spatial-ethological organization" and the functioning of vertebrate population systems. He was also engaged in the zoology of vertebrates.

Biography
Igor Shilov participated in the Great Patriotic War, was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree and 8 medals.
He graduated in 1950 from the Biology and Soil Faculty of Moscow State University . In 1965 he received the degree of Doctor of Biological Sciences. He was a professor at the Department of Zoology of Vertebrates and General Ecology of the Biological Faculty of Moscow State University (since 1966). Laureate of the 1990 USSR State Prize .
For many years he worked at the Zvenigorod Biological Station , where he set up a laboratory of experimental biology with a small group of employees. Igor Alexandrovich combined his scientific work with active pedagogical activity at Moscow State University. Published over 165 scientific papers.
He was buried in Moscow on the Don Cemetery [1] .
