Biography
In the USSR
In 1972 he graduated from the Railway Institute in Leningrad and worked as a junior research fellow at the All-Russian Battery Institute [2] .
He was baptized in 1978 in Leningrad in the church of the Russian Orthodox Church [2] .
At the ROCA
In 1981, he emigrated from the USSR to the United States, where he became a parishioner of the All Saints Church in the land of Russia who shone in Denver , Colorado. [2]
In 1984, he was tonsured a reader by the Archbishop of Chicago, Alipius (Gamanovich) [2] .
In 1985 he entered into the brotherhood of Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville , where he accepted monasticism (he does not indicate the date of monastic tonsure in his autobiography) [2] . He graduated from Holy Trinity Seminary in Jordanville with a bachelor of theology; according to his autobiography - in 1988 [2] , according to other sources - in 1991 [3] .
At the end of Holy Trinity Seminary, he bore obedience in the monastery printing house , being also a teacher of the Old Testament and patrology at Holy Trinity Seminary [2] .
He was placed as a subdeacon and then ordained an hierodeacon by the Archbishop of Syracuse Lavra (Shkurla) , but he also does not name the dates of these events in his autobiography [2] . It is only known that in 1994 he was just a monk, and not a hierodeacon [4] .
In 1997, protesting the resumption of informal negotiations with the Moscow Patriarchate, which was begun by Archbishop Mark (Arndt) , he became one of the inhabitants of Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville who took this very negatively. As stated in Protocol No. 3 of the Meeting of the Bishops' Council of the ROCA of April 24 / May 7, 1998, “The Rasophorian monk Boris and several of his supporters published an article without public blessing and rebelled without appearing in the church or in the meal when they arrived at the monastery: Archbishop Mark, as well as Serbian Bishop Artemy [Radosavlevich] . Cassock. mon Boris (Efremov), Hierodeacon Ambrose (Dvornichenko), Hieromonk Paisiy (Malykhin) and cassock. mon Oleg (Tselishchev) separated from the brotherhood of the Holy Trinity Monastery and moved to live in the Magopak Monastery . Archbishop Lavra and other clerics of the monastery could not convince them of their wrongness. They were banned for masterful behavior. In spiritual terms, they fell under demonic seduction, considering themselves pure, that is, kafaras . ” After some time, Boris (Efremov) wrote a letter asking for forgiveness, and Archbishop Laurus (Shkurla) lifted the punishment. After Easter 1998, the prohibitions were lifted from the rest of the rebellious monks, whom Archbishop Laurus transferred to the care of Metropolitan Vitaly (Ustinov) . After the ban was lifted, they served for some time in the Magopak temple [5] .
At the ROCA ( )
His biography from 1998 to 2011 is unknown [6] . In his autobiography about this period, he wrote only that “he always considered Metropolitan Vitaly and then Archbishop Vladimir” as his bishop [2] , which means that in the fall of 2001 he left the ROCA, having joined the ROCA (B) that was formed at that time, formal the head of which was Metropolitan Vitaly (Ustinov) , and during further schisms in it, he remained in that part of it, which was headed by Vladimir (Tselishchev) . However, where he served during this period (and whether he served at all) is unknown; so in the list of parishes and clergy of ROCOR (B), published in 2004, his name does not appear [7] .
On March 20, 2011, in the parish of St. Seraphim of Sarov in Montreal, he was ordained as hieromonk by Archbishop of San Francisco and West America Vladimir (Tselishchev) [8] .
On October 3, 2011, by decision of the Bishops' Council of the ROCOR (BB), he was elected bishop with the title of Denver, Vicar of the Western American Diocese [9] .
On October 6, 2011, by the decision of the same cathedral, he was appointed editor-in-chief of the resumed Orthodox Review journal. On the same day he was elected secretary of the Synod of Bishops of the ROCOR (BB) [10] .
On October 7, 2011, by the decision of the same council, on the proposal of Vladimir (Tselishchev), he was included in the “Theological Commission” [11] .
On October 8, 2011, at the Preobrazhensky men's monastery in Mansonville , Canada, he was made bishop Hieromonk Ambrose [12] .
On October 9, there he was consecrated bishop of Denver, Vicar of the Western American Diocese. The consecration was performed by the Archbishop of San Francisco and West America Vladimir (Tselishchev) , Bishop of Vladivostok and Far East Anastasiy (Surzhik) , Bishop of St. Petersburg and North-Russian Victor (Parbus) , Bishop of Vasilkovsky Tikhon (Antonov) , Bishop of Istrino-Istrin Russian Martin (Lapkovsky) , Bishop of Marseille and Western European Cassian (Mukhin) [13] . After his consecration, the number of bishops of the ROCOR (BB) reached eight [12] .
On September 30, 2013, by decision of the Bishops Synod of ROCOR (BB), he was elected a permanent member of the Bishops Synod of ROCOR (BB) [14] .
On October 4, 2015, along with Bishop Tikhon (Antonov), he was elected secretary of the Bishops' Council of the ROCOR (BB), held from October 4 to 11, 2015, by unanimous decision of the hierarchs of the ROCA (BB) arriving at him [15] .
The activist of non-canonical Orthodoxy Gregory (Lurie) characterized him as a person "without special fame and special energy" [16] .
