Biography and career start
Frankel is the only child of the horse riding coach Robert Jay Frankel (1941–2009). Her father was Jewish, and her mother converted to Judaism before marrying her father. Frankel's parents broke up when she was four years old and a year later her mother remarried. Frankel describes her childhood as difficult and says that her mother "always drank" and argued violently with her stepfather.
In 1988, Frankel graduated from Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale , Florida , where she lived on campus. She also studied at the National Gourmet Institute for Healthy and Culinary Arts, New York University and Boston University .
Frankel began her career on TV and in film in 1993, appearing in the short film "Soiree Sans Hors D'oeuvres". In 2005, Frankel appeared in The Apprentice: Martha Stewart and became one of two finalists.
Personal life
Relationships and Motherhood
In 1996-1997, Bétenny was married to actor Peter Sussman. [2]
Between 2010 and 2016, Batenny was married to Jason Hoppy. The former spouses have a daughter - Bryn Casey Hoppy (born 08/05/2010). On February 20, 2012, Frankel admitted that she recently suffered a miscarriage , being their second child in the 2nd month of pregnancy [3] .
In 2016, Bétenny began dating Denns Shields (1967–2018), with whom she had been friends for more than twenty years. Over the next two years, Frankel and Shields tied a non-permanent relationship — they either converged or diverged; in April 2018, their engagement took place [4] . On August 10, 2018, 51-year-old Shields died from an overdose of prescribed medication at the Trump Tower [5] .
Health Issues
In August 2017, it was reported that Betenny was undergoing a course of screening for skin cancer after a certain tumor began to grow on her face. On September 13, it was confirmed that she was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma (the most common form of skin cancer), and the tumor under her eye has already been removed and Frenkel went on the amendment [6] .
On December 16, 2018, Frankel suffered an almost fatal allergic reaction to fish [7] , which led to problems with memory and vision [8] .
On March 8, 2019, Frankel reported that she had recently been diagnosed with flowing bowel syndrome and wheat allergy [9] .
