Raj Rajaratnam , June 15, 1957 , Colombo ) is an American financier and banker of Tamil descent, the founder of the hedge fund Galleon Group , [1] based in New York . [2] On October 16, 2009, the FBI was arrested on suspicion of insider trading , which led to the closure of the Galleon Group. [3] He was found guilty by the District Court of the Southern District of New York on all 14 counts. [4] [5] On 13 October 2011, Rajaratnam was sentenced to 11 years in prison. [6]
