Tacuarembo ( Spanish: Tacuarembó ) is a city in the north of central Uruguay , the administrative center of the department of the same name .

History
It was founded on January 21, 1832 under the name San Fructuoso in honor of St. Fructuos Tarragona , Catholic patron of Uruguayan President Fructuoso Rivera . July 17, 1895 received the status of a small town ( Villa ). June 24, 1912 received the status of a city ( Ciudad ) and was renamed Tacuarembo [1] , by the name of the Tacuarembo River ( guar. Reed river ).
Geography and climate
Located 390 km north of Montevideo and 113 south-west of the city of Rivera . The absolute height is 140 meters above sea level [2] .
The climate is subtropical humid, with warm summers and fairly cool winters. Frost and fog are frequent. The average annual temperature is 18 ° C; the average annual rainfall is 1165 mm.
