Rocha ( Spanish: Rocha ) is a city in southeast Uruguay , the administrative center of the department of the same name .

Content
History
It was founded in 1793. Got the status of a small town ( Villa ) before the country gained independence. On July 7, 1880, it becomes the administrative center of the Rocha Department, and on January 10, 1894 it receives the status of a city ( Ciudad ) [1] .
Geography and climate
Located 70 km northeast of the city of San Carlos , approximately 210 km from Montevideo . Along the western outskirts of the city flows the river Rocha. The absolute height is 27 meters above sea level [2] .
The climate is mild oceanic, with warm summers and cool winters. Average annual temperature: 16 ° C; January average temperature: 21.7 ° C; July: 10.9 ° C. The average annual rainfall: 1123 mm [3] .
