Content

Geography

It is located 134 km east of Montevideo and 13 km south of the city of San Carlos . From the southeast to the Maldonado adjoins the resort town of Punta del Este . Together with Punta del Este and other suburbs, it forms an agglomeration with a population of about 175,000 people. To the east of the city flows the stream of Maldonado.

History

Maldonado was founded on October 19, 1755 at the initiative of the Governor of Montevideo, Joaquin de Viana.
