John MacDonald Badham (born August 25, 1939 ) is an American filmmaker . Badam received world fame after the painting " Saturday Night Fever ", which was a stunning success and played a significant role in the popularization of disco music. His work also includes War Games , Short Circuit , Tracking , and Blue Thunder .

Biography
John Badham was born in the UK, but grew up in the United States , Alabama , and became a citizen of the country in 1950 . For many years he worked on television, but became famous only in 1977 , after the release of the film Fever he shot on Saturday night with John Travolta in the title role.
