History

In 1930, the German Democratic Party (NDP) teamed up with the conservative anti-Semitic "Younger German Order" into the German State Party. The majority of the left wing of the NDP, which did not agree with this decision, held a congress on November 30 of the same year in which the Radical Democratic Party was formed. The most famous founders of the party were Nobel Peace Prize winner Ludwig Quidde and member of the Reichstag in 1903-1907 Helmut von Gerlach. The party was supported by pacifists and the left wing of the Young Democrats youth union. Berlin lawyer Willy Braubach was elected party chairman. The party program had a social liberal and pacifist orientation.

The main regions of the party's activity were Berlin, the Ruhr region and the area located between Nuremberg and Fuerth . The party had political weight exclusively at the local level. Its deputies were only in the Landtag of the People's State of Hesse (Julius Ryber and Johann Eberle), and even those parties got the mandates due to the transition of Ryber and Eberle from the NDP to the RDP. In 1931, the party received in Hesse only 0.6% of the vote and lost seats in the Landtag. The elections to the Reichstag , held in November 1932 (3793 votes), turned out to be unsuccessful.

In 1933, the party quietly disappeared, leaving no trace in the resistance movement either. After 1945, some of the former party members (for example, Erich Lut and Paul von Schöneich ) returned to active political activity.
