The Scientific and Educational Library is a small series of popular science books and brochures intended for schools of working and rural youth and other similar institutions. The issue was started by the State Publishing House of Agricultural Literature ( Selkhozgiz , Moscow ) in 1945 .

In the next year, 1946 , the release of a popular science series on a wide range of topics called "Popular Science Library" was transferred to the State Publishing House of Techno-Theoretical Literature (Gostezizdat).
In 1947, a similar " Popular Science Library of a Soldier and a Sailor " also began to be published at the Military Publishing House .
