Depot History
On May 8, 1942, from the Kamyshin station of the Ryazan-Ural Railway, the first train with construction materials was brought by the driver Yakov Ivanovich Zhuravlev to the newly built Petrov Val station. At that time, the station did not yet have a name. June 28, 1942 the station was named Petrov Val [1] .
The decision to build a locomotive depot at the Petrov Val station of the Stalingrad Railway was made by the USSR Council of Ministers in 1947 . The depot carried out minor and ongoing repairs of steam locomotives [1] . The very first brick house built after the war in the village was the depot management building, which has survived to the present time [1] .
During the years of Soviet power, the depot was actively developing. In the 1960s, locomotives were replaced by shunting and mainline diesel locomotives [1] . In the second half of the 1980s, the aging TE3 diesel locomotives were replaced by the 2TE10 diesel locomotives [1] . In view of the need for the Volga Road to increase repair capacity in the late 1980s, it was decided to create a base for repair of diesel locomotives in the volume of TR-3 in Petrov Val PM [1] .
In 1988, the subsidiary farm sold 48 kg of meat for each employee of the depot [2] .
