The title of the collection was chosen as follows: Hyperboreans in Greek mythology called people living in a continuous holiday. They were forever young and close to the gods. When they were bored with life, they rushed into the sea and thus died. Thus, the title of the collection included a declaration of the acmeism program. Vasily Gippius's lines well reflected the atmosphere prevailing in "Hyperboy":
Fridays at Hyperborea
The flowering of literary roses.
And all the gardens of the earth are more colorful
Fridays at Hyperborea
Like a wand of a fairy fairy
Flower bed seductive increased.
Fridays at Hyperborea
The flowering of literary roses.
