It was located on Panteleimonovskaya Street (now Pestel Street ) at number 12 ( A.H. Pel's house), not far from the Fontanka embankment and Panteleymonovsky Bridge .

With the participation of many prominent domestic scientists ( V.A. Steklov , A.N. Krylov , A.P. Karpinsky, and others), the publishing house issued more than 200 monographs and textbooks , mainly in the natural sciences , according to the methods of teaching natural science disciplines and in higher education .

Until now, the fundamental collections “New Ideas ...” (in philosophy , in mathematics , in physics , in chemistry , etc.) are of great interest. They housed a universal exlibris , which in 1910 the famous graphic artist GI Narbut (1886–1920) created by order of the publisher Education (later the publisher distorted the ex libris without the author’s knowledge). The publishing house actively promoted in Russia new ideas in the field of physics, in particular, for the first time they published in Russian the works of M. Planck , E. Rutherford and other leading scientists in the series “ Popular Natural-Scientific Library ”. She also published a number of books on philosophy and the “Library of Philosophers” series.
