On October 17, 1941, Sergeant Achkasov in an air battle over the territory of the Nekouz district of the Yaroslavl region rammed an enemy bomber with his I-16 . Landed on a damaged plane. For this ram, Achkasov was awarded the Order of Lenin.

On August 13, 1942, Lieutenant Achkasov, together with the squadron commander near the village of Podkletnoye near the city of Voronezh, joined the battle against 9 bombers and 7 enemy fighters. Our fighters boldly attacked the enemy and prevented the "Junkers" from aiming their bombs. In the first attack, Achkasov shot down one Me-109 . A stubborn air battle ensued, lasting 40 minutes. Achkasov got out all the ammunition, and at that time 2 Messerschmitts entered the tail of the commander’s plane. Then the lieutenant with a confident and skillful maneuver forced one of the Nazis to turn away, and the second went to ram. At an altitude of 5000 meters, he fell upon the enemy. The blow was so strong that the Me-109 began to fall apart even in the air. Its debris fell in the vicinity of the village of Novo-Troitskoye.

But Achkasov himself was wounded. His plane became uncontrollable and went on a dive. With great difficulty, the pilot jumped with a parachute. He was picked up by the peasants and unconsciously sent to the hospital. After recovering, he participated in new battles.
