Anna Grodzka (also Anna Grodzka [3] , Anna Grodzka [4] Polish. Anna Grodzka , born March 16, 1954 , Otwock , Poland ) is a Polish public and political activist , founder and president of the Trans-Fuzja Foundation for Defense rights of transgender people [5] . The first open transgender woman in Poland to be elected to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland .

Biography

Born March 16, 1954 in Otwock , Poland . At birth she bore the name Krzysztof Grodzki ( Polish: Krzysztof Grodzki ) and was biologically a man . She graduated from the University of Warsaw with a degree in psychology . According to Anna, the realization that she was “born in the wrong body” came to her at the age of eleven.

As a man, in 1984 she married a woman with whom she was in love with her school years, and soon their son was born. In 2007, they divorced . Then Grodskaya decided to start a transgender transition [4] . She decided to judicially decide on the issue of gender and physically change the sex only after her son finally matured. She underwent surgery to correct her sex in a Bangkok clinic [6] . Her son completely took this step. Anna Grodskaya’s transgender transition ended in 2010 . Grodsky’s transition process was presented in the HBO trans-action documentary in 2010 [4] .

Professional and political activities

Anna Grodskaya graduated from clinical psychology at the University of Warsaw. During the period of Poland, she was a member of the Association of Polish Students (APS) and the Polish United Party of Workers. She worked as a political instructor at the APS. In 1986 she became director of the company Alma Press [7] . Then she was engaged in her own business , for many years she worked in the publishing, advertising and printing industries. Engaged in the production of films for Polish television [8] . In 2003-2006 she was a member of the Radio for You Directorate [9] .

Acted in the political party " Social Democracy of the Republic of Poland ", and later, until September 2011 , was a member of the " Union of Democratic Left in Warsaw ".

In 2008, she participated in the creation of the Trans-Fuzja Foundation, which protects the rights of transgender people . Since November 2011, she acted as chairman of this organization. By the end of 2011, Anna Grodkaya was also deputy chairman of the Public Dialogue Commission on Equal Relations under the President of the Capital City of Warsaw.

In 2011, Anna Grodskaya became the first open transgender elected to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland [10] , as well as the first open transgender elected to the European State Parliament. In parliamentary elections from Krakow, according to the lists of the Palikot Movement party, she won first place [2] . Her election program included: equalizing the rights of LGBT and heterosexual people, protecting women's rights , separating the church from the state and education , improving the situation with the availability of kindergartens , raising the minimum wage , etc. [11] .
