Located on the banks of the river Uskovo .
The village was founded in 1889 near the Gilyak camp. The name was officially assigned on February 1, 1890 and came from the Nivkh Usk-in - “settlement of the struggle (games)”.

According to the 2002 census, the population is 48 people (26 men, 22 women). The predominant nationality is Russians (83%) [2] .
