Geography
Located on the banks of the Naiba River.
History
Until 1945, it belonged to the Japanese governorate of Karafuto and was called Fucakusa ( Japanese 深 草 ) . After the transfer of South Sakhalin to the USSR, the village on October 15, 1947 received its modern name, there was a factory where artificial liquid fuel was produced from coal [4] .

According to the 2002 census, the population is 1711 people (810 men, 901 women) [13] .
