Geography
Located on the banks of the Tatar Strait .
History
Until 1945, it belonged to the Japanese governorate of Karafuto and was called Habomai ( 羽 母 舞 ) . After the transfer of South Sakhalin to the USSR, the village on October 15, 1947 received its modern name - according to the pioneer camp organized here [5] .

According to the 2002 census, the population is 689 people (334 men, 355 women). The predominant nationality is Russian (93%). [2]
