Located on the shores of Aniva Bay.
History
Until 1945, it belonged to the Japanese governorate of Karafuto and was called Hamadzi ( Jap. 濱路 ) . After the transfer of the South Sakhalin USSR, the village on October 15, 1947 received the modern name - according to the nature of the surrounding area [4] .

According to the 2002 census, the population was 143 people (64 men, 79 women). The predominant nationality is Russians (82%) [2] .
