Located on the banks of the Kostroma River.
History
Until 1945, it belonged to the Japanese governorate of Karafuto and was called Nijusango ( 二十 三号 ) . After the transfer of South Sakhalin to the USSR, the village received its modern name - at the proposal of immigrants from the village of Petropavlovka, Pavinsky district, Kostroma region [4] .

According to the 2002 census, the population is 19 people (12 men, 7 women). The predominant nationality is Russians (84%) [2] .
