Geography
Located on the banks of the Naiba River.
History
The village was founded in 1893 under the name Romanovsky [4] . From 1907 to 1945 belonged to the Japanese governorate of Karafuto and was called Watase ( Jap. 渡 瀬 ) . After the transfer of South Sakhalin to the USSR, the village received its modern name.

According to the 2002 census, the population is 258 people (124 men, 134 women). The predominant nationality is Russian (79%). [2]
