Located on the shore of the Sea of Okhotsk .
History
Until 1945, it belonged to the Japanese governorate of Karafuto and was called Kashiho ( 樫 保 ) .

According to the 2002 census, the population is 36 people (26 men, 10 women). The predominant nationality is Russians (78%) [2] .
Transportation
In the village is located Zaozernoye station of the Sakhalin region of the Far Eastern Railway .
