History

Until 1945, it belonged to the Japanese governorate of Karafuto and was called Usinisawa ( 牛 荷 沢 ) . After the transfer of South Sakhalin to the USSR, the village was renamed on October 15, 1947, presumably at the request of collective farmers-immigrants from the Amur Region . According to another version, the village is named after the river, which was still named by the Russian pioneers in the 17th century (from Even Amar - “big river”) [4] .
