Shenmue III ( Japanese シ ェ ン ム ー III Shenmue: Suri:) is the planned third part of the Shenmue series from designer Yu Suzuki . The game is being developed by the Japanese studios YS Net and Neilo, the Monaco Shibuya Productions, and the Indian Lakshya Digital. The game will be published by Deep Silver . Under development for Windows and PlayStation 4 .

The release of the game was first announced at the end of 2017, but the date was later postponed to the second half of 2018 [5] . On May 14, 2018, a message appeared on the game’s website about the postponement of the release for 2019. According to the publisher of Deep Silver, developers need extra time to polish the project and improve its quality. The game will be released on November 19, 2019.
Development
The publisher Sega originally planned to release Shenmue III [6] , but due to poor sales of the first two parts and high development costs, the company refused to release a sequel. In August 2005, information appeared on the Kikizo website that Shenmue III would be a combination of the first and second games, with the inclusion of the last chapters [7] , but later Sega representatives told the press to forget about the third part of the series [8] . However, after a while, the Shenmue Shenmue Online spin-off series was announced, which was later canceled. The creator of Yu Suzuki himself has repeatedly expressed interest in reviving the project [9] [10] [11] . However, the Sega leadership itself expressed a completely opposite opinion, and its representatives have repeatedly stated that the development will not be conducted, but noted the series as one of the most popular games for fans [12] [13] [14] .
In November 2011, in one issue of PlayStation Magazine, a rumor leaked that the development of the game was being carried out jointly with Sony. And later, a Sega of America affiliate announced the search for an executive producer to “restart one of the company's most beloved series” [15] . Yu Suzuki himself did not comment on this information, but in an interview with the Shenmue Master fan site, he admitted that he wanted to buy the copyright for the series from Sega [16] .
The official announcement of Shenmue III took place at the Sony conference, as part of the E3 2015 exhibition. The game is funded through the Kickstarter crowdfunding service, and will be released on Windows and PlayStation 4 [17] . The game is based on the Unreal Engine 4 engine . On Kickstarter, the release date for Shenmue III was announced - the end of 2017. But subsequently, the output was transferred to the second half of 2018 [5] .
June 17, 2015, Sony confirmed its involvement in the development of the game [18] .
May 29, 2017 there was information from the developer YsNet, Inc. that Shenmue III will not participate at E3 2017 [19] .
June 30, 2017 there was information from the developer YsNet, Inc. that Shenmue III will participate in the Gamescom 2017 exhibition, where project-related announcements are expected. A new game logo was also introduced. [20]
