Career
In adolescence, in addition to cycling Arvessen seriously fond of several sports: athletics , football and skiing . In 1995, he settled on cycling, starting to play for Bergen’s amateur team. After 2 years, he won the group race of the World Championship for men under 23 and immediately 3 adult championships in Norway: in the group race, the criteria and the team breakdown. During his career, Arvessen became the champion of the country 10 times: 5 times in the group race, 2 times in individual and team cuts, and that very criterion. The new world champion went to Italy , where at the end of 1998 he signed the first professional contract. In 2001, when Riso Scotti did not wait for significant victories from the Norwegian, he moved to a small Danish team, Team Fakta . In the new team, Kurt Asle felt comfortable, a year later he won the Tour of Sweden , and in 2003 won his first victory at the stage of the Grand Tour , the Giro d'Italia .
The Norwegian wanted to stay in Scandinavia , and in 2004 he began to play for Team CSC . Arvessen immediately won the important stage for his team Danmark Rundt . In 2007, he repeated this success, a year earlier he won the Stehr Elektrotur , but mostly served as gregari . Also in 2007, Kurt Asle won again at the Giro stage, this time winning a sprint from the lead over Paolo Bettini . In 2008, he won the main, in his words, career victory, at the stage of the Tour de France . The same season brought him victory at E3 Harelbeke . A year later, Arvessen became the champion of the country for the last time, and in 2010 he moved to the British Team Sky . He no longer achieved victories, and on October 9, 2011, ended his career after Paris-Tours [1] .
