Paysandu (department)

Paysandú ( Spanish: Paysandú ) is a department in western Uruguay . It borders with the departments of Salto (in the north), Rio Negro (in the south) and Tacuarembo (in the east), as well as with Argentina (in the west). The border with Argentina runs along the Uruguay River. The area is 13,922 km² (7.9% of the total area of ​​the country). The administrative center is the city ​​of the same name .
