The King of Gospel Singers is the seventh studio album by American singer Little Richard . Records were made in 1961 for Mercury Records under the direction of Quincy Jones . In 1989, the album was reissued on CD entitled “It's Real”.

After recording the album and releasing the single “He Got What He Wanted” (from “Why not you Change Your Ways” on the back), Little Richard switched from Mercury to Atlantic Records for which he recorded two more gospel singles, after which the singer back to the rock and roll genre .
