The Ministry of Economy and Industry of Azerbaijan ( Azerb. Azərbaycan Respublikasınin İqtisadiyyat və Sənaye Nazirliyi ) is the central executive body that creates and implements state policies in the field of socio-economic development, including macroeconomics, trade, investment attraction, entrepreneurship development, privatization of state property and managing it, restricting monopolies and developing competition. Since October 31, 2008, the head of the ministry has been Shakhin Mustafayev .

History
On April 30, 2001, in order to improve the structure of state administration, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Azerbaijan is created on the basis of the Ministry of State Property, the Ministry of Economy, the State Antimonopoly Committee and assistance to entrepreneurs, the Ministry of Trade and the Agency for Foreign Investments, by order of President Heydar Aliyev [1] .
In order to improve the structure of public administration, October 22, 2013, the Ministry of Economic Development was transformed into the Ministry of Economy and Industry. [2]
Leadership and Structure
The Minister of Economic Development is Mustafayev, Shahin Abdullah oglu . The deputy ministers are Sevinj Telman gizi Hasanov, Niyazi Abdullah oglu Safarov, Sahil Rafig oglu Babayev and Sahib Ali oglu Mammadov. [3]
The following structures are included in the apparatus of the ministry:
- Department of Economic Policy, Analytics and Forecasting;
- Department of Housing and Communal Policy;
- Department of Strategic Planning;
- Department of Human Resources and Public Administration;
- Department of electronic management;
- Department of Public Relations;

- Department of Public Investment;
- Department of International Economic Relations;
- Department of Foreign Trade Policy and World Trade Organization;
- Department of relations with international organizations;
- Legal department;
- Entrepreneurship Development Policy Division;
- Department of Regional Development and State Programs;

The Ministry of National Entrepreneurship Support Fund operates under the Ministry, the executive director of which is Shirzad Abdullaev .
Ministry Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the ministry are as follows:
- determination of the strategy and main directions of socio-economic development of the Republic of Azerbaijan, preparation of economic programs and ensuring their implementation;
- determination, based on an analysis of the economic situation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, of ways to regulate socio-economic activity;
- coordination of the activities of central and local executive bodies in the implementation of economic reforms;
- implementation of state policy in the field of economic cooperation with foreign countries, international and regional financial organizations, as well as measures aimed at improving the effectiveness of foreign economic relations;
- ensuring the implementation of state policy in the field of trade;
- ensuring the implementation of structural and investment policies in the country;
- preparation and implementation of the main directions of regional economic policy;
- ensuring the implementation of relevant measures in the field of supporting development and stimulating entrepreneurship;
- implementation of state policy in the field of privatization and management of state property, disposal of state property;
- prevention, restriction and elimination of monopolistic activity and unfair competition of economic entities, implementation of measures defined by law in the field of consumer protection;
- performance of other duties established by the legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic [5] .
Achievements
During the existence of the ministry, the following goals were achieved:
- Strengthened the fight against artificial price increases;
- Created a “hot line” for grain producers;
- Issued a catalog "Made in Azerbaijan", covering 10 industries;
- Prepared proposals for the restoration of the affected areas of Azerbaijan from the occupation of Armenia;
- Under the ministry, a telephone service began to operate;
- Started issuing licenses electronically;
- It supported entrepreneurship, investing in real sectors and maintaining a stable manat rate [6] .
