Etymology
Kurmach - fried barley or oat groats. From Turk .; Wed tel., chagat. kurmac [2] :
- roasted barley groats;
- fried wheat, tour. kavyrmac, kavurmac;
- toasted bread grains (Radlov 2, 470, 965); see Cannisto, FUF 17, 112 et seq.
Geography
It is located on the left bank of the Baigol River (a tributary of the Swan River).
It is bounded from the west by the Olunochak River, from the east and from the north by the Baigol River, from the south by the Tegri-Chokon Range (724 m).
Fir and birch grow on the slopes of the surrounding mountains, and strawberries grow in the undergrowth.

In the village there are a comprehensive school, a cultural center, a feldsher-midwife station, a library, a post office, shops.
Transport
The village can be reached from the village of Turochak by a mountain road, past the villages of Stretinka , Sovetskiy Baygol and Itkuch .
