Biography
Alexey Yuryevich Korovin was born on April 18, 1962 in Leningrad. In 1980 he graduated from the music school-ten at the Leningrad Conservatory in the clarinet class with Professor P.N. Sukhanov . In 1977, the musician became the laureate of the 2nd prize of the International Concertino Prague Competition [1] . In 1983 he was awarded 2 prizes and the title of laureate at the First All-Russian Competition of Woodwind Music Performers in Leningrad. In 1985 he graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory, in 1988-1989 he improved in graduate school under the guidance of Professor P.N. Sukhanov .
Since 1981 he has been the soloist of the Mikhailovsky Theater Orchestra , with whom he has repeatedly toured in Europe, Japan and the USA. In 1983 he created the ensemble “Leningrad (Petersburg) clarinets” (composed of A. Korovin, V. Gensler Jr., E. Zubarev, V. Karpovich), who successfully performed in the concert halls of the city and toured in Germany. In 1990-1992 he taught at the music school-ten at the Conservatory.
Alexei Korovin regularly performed in concerts as a soloist and ensemble in the Big and Small Halls of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Small Hall of the Conservatory, the Concert Hall of the Academic Capella, and in Germany performed with the symphony orchestras of Berlin and Dresden. Petersburg composer Dmitry Stefanovich dedicated his suite to clarinet and piano to Alexei Korovin.
Alexei Yuryevich Korovin died suddenly on November 11, 2005 in St. Petersburg.
