The year 1926 was marked by a series of events that left a noticeable mark in the history of Soviet fine art.

Events

March 21 in Leningrad in the halls of the Academy of Arts opened the next "Exhibition of paintings by the Society of A. I. Kuindzhi ." Among 592 works of 65 authors, the works of Mikhail Avilov , Alexander Vakhrameev , Mikhail Guzhavin , Alfons Zhaba , Mikhail Platunov , Arkady Rylov , Efim Cheptsov , Alfred Eberling and other artists were exhibited ^[1] .

On May 3, in Moscow, on the territory of the agricultural exhibition (now the Central Park of Culture and Rest named after A. Gorky), the VIII exhibition of paintings and sculptures of the AHRR “Life and Life of the Peoples of the USSR” opened, then shown in Leningrad. Among 1832 works of 294 authors, works by Mikhail Avilov , Abram Arkhipov , Fyodor Bogorodsky , Isaac Brodsky , Alexander Vakhrameev , Sergey Gerasimov , Mitrofan Grekov , Nikolai Dormidontov , Boris Ioganson , Aristarkh Lentulov , Alexander Lyubimov , Vasily Svogod Rozhdestvensky , Arkady Khvostenko , Efim Cheptsov , Alfred Eberling and other artists ^[2] .

The VI regular exhibition of paintings by the “Society of Individualist Artists” has opened in Leningrad. Among 446 works, 51 authors exhibited works by Jacob Brovar, Alphonse Toad , Julius Clover , Nikolai Rutkovsky and other artists ^[3] .

On November 7, in Leningrad, near the Finland Station, a monument to V.I. Lenin was unveiled, designed by the sculptor S. A. Evseev and architects V. A. Schuko and V. G. Gelfreikh and becoming the first completed monument to V. I. Lenin in the city ^{[ 4]} .

In Leningrad, in the halls of the Academy of Arts, the VIII exhibition of paintings and sculptures of the Russian Academy of Arts "Life and Life of the Peoples of the USSR", shown earlier in Moscow, was opened. Among 766 works by 145 authors, the works of Mikhail Avilov , Isaac Brodsky , Alexander Vakhrameev , Sergei Gerasimov , Mitrofan Grekov , Boris Johanson , Aristarch Lentulov , Alexander Lyubimov , Vasily Rozhdestvensky , Arkady Rylov , Vasily Svarog , Vasily Khvostenko , Efim Cheredsov , Efim Cheptsov , Efim Cheptsov , were exhibited artists ^[2] .

October 28 - Davidson Maria Solomonovna , Soviet Russian painter.
November 12 - Furtseev Albert Anatolyevich , Soviet Russian painter (d. In 1997 ).
November 22 - Beltyukov Boris Mikhailovich , Soviet Russian painter.
November 27 - Guri Zakharov , Soviet Russian graphic artist, Honored Artist of the RSFSR , laureate of the RSFSR State Prize named after I. E. Repin (d. In 1994 ).

March 16 - Vakhrameev Alexander Ivanovich , Russian painter and teacher (born in 1874 ).
June 23 - Victor Mikhailovich Vasnetsov , Russian artist (born in 1848 ).
