Biography
Since 931, co-ruler of his father, Hugo of Nizhneburgundsky ; after his father’s flight before Berengar II, the Hebrew fought for a long time with the latter, who wanted to deprive him of the throne. He retained the crown, but was forced to conclude an agreement with Berengar, which in fact ensured dominance in the kingdom, real power under a nominal king. Lothar suddenly and untimely, at a young age, died on November 22, 950 during a trip to Turin . As expected, there were rumors that the king was poisoned by order of Berengar, although there was no obvious evidence. Lothar was buried in Milan in the monastery of St. Ambrose. The widow of his Adelheid married on October 9, 951, to the German king Otto I , to whom the crown of Italy passed in this way.
