The Staitsels parish ( Latvian. Staiceles pagasts ) is one of the six territorial units of the Aloi region of Latvia . Located in the north of the region. It borders on the town of Staicele and the Aloj parish of its region, the Ramat and Skankalns volosts of the Mazsalatsk region , the Salacgriva and Ainaz volosts of the Salacgriva region , as well as the two Estonian volosts of the county of Pärnu County - Häädemeeste and Saarde .

The largest settlements of the volost are the villages: Vicki, Roseni, Karogi, Marciemi, Pursheni.
On the territory of the volost, bypassing the villages of Marciemi and Roseni, passes the regional highway P15 ( Ainaži - Matisi ) [2] .
The rivers flow through the territory of the volost: Salaca, Pužupe, Gangupite, Glazhupe, Yogla. The area is very wetland, the largest swamps: Pinites, Sokas, Pirtsmezha, Ogu, Plancha, Dzirnu. Not far from the border with Estonia is Lake Sokas.
History
In 1935, the area of the Rosen Volost of Valmiera County was 237.7 km², with a population of 3297 inhabitants. In 1945, Rosen, Staytselsky and Viksky village councils were created in Rosen volost.
In 1949, the volost division was abolished. In 1950, Staytsele received the status of a working village (including the Staytselsky Village Council) and was part of the Limbaži district . In 1954, part of the territory of the Rosen Village Council was added. In 1958, after the accession of the liquidated Rosen and Vick village councils, the Staytselsky rural territory was created on their basis.
In 1977, a portion of the Aloi rural territory was added to Staitsel, while part of the Staitselsky rural territory was reassigned to the Ramatsky village council. In 1992, the urban-type village of Sticele received the status of a city [3] .
In 2009, at the end of the Latvian administrative-territorial reform, the city of Staisele with its rural territory were included in the Aloi region. In 2010, the Staytselsky rural territory was reorganized into the Staytselsky volost.
