The Macedonian Museum of Modern Art is one of three museums of modern art in Thessaloniki , Greece [1] .

Creation History
The Macedonian Museum of Modern Art was created in 1979 , on the initiative of a group of residents of Thessaloniki, shown after the devastating earthquake of 1978 . The initiative belongs to Maro Lagia and was immediately supported by art collector, critic and philanthropist Alexandros Iolas .
47 works of modern art donated by Iolas became the core around which a permanent museum exhibition was formed. Subsequently, the management of the museum named him a new 3-story wing. The gift made by Iolas served as an example for his followers. Famous collectors Magda Kojia, Franz Geiger, Alexandros and Dorothea Xidis, Georgios Apergis and Dimitrios Meimaroglu, and with them many artists donated and continue to give the museum their collections and works [2] .
Permanent Exhibition
Currently, the permanent exhibition of the museum consists of 2000 works of Greek and foreign artists. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum organized more than 100 expositions of Greek and foreign artists: retrospective exhibitions of artists Tsaruhis, Yannis , Tsoklis, Kondoglu, Fotis , Hadzikyriakos-Gikas, Nikos , Kokkinidis, Fassianos, Alekos , Spiropoulos, Psychopaidis, Pavlos, Kloss, Kloss, Kloss Warhol, Andy , Katsurakis and Perdikaris were organized for the first time in Greece; other expositions were dedicated to Fluxus , Delaunay, Robert , Delaunay, Sonya , Matta, Roberto Sebastian , Viallat, Boyce, Josef , Uecker, Greenaway, Hockney, David , Ernst, Max , Barlach, Beckman, Max , Zervos, Vlassis Kaniaris, Varotsos, Takis, Molfessis, Lazongas, Papadimitriou, Stephen Antonakos, Zongolopoulos, Mytaras, Triandafyllou, Ekonomopoulos, Alithinos, Theodoulos, and many other artists. The Macedonian Museum of Modern Art has published more than 50 catalogs accompanying personal and group expositions [3] .
Library
The library holds over 2500 books and publications on sculpture, painting and photography. All catalogs published by the museum, audio and video materials, museum archives are available to the public.
